The State Of Play Of CSR In Singapore

2011 | Landscape Studies Download the Report

Despite Singapore’s status as an economic powerhouse in the Asian region, it seems to fall short in frequent comparisons of corporate social responsibility (CSR) across countries. The understanding of CSR has not kept pace with the expectations and demands placed on business by the various stakeholders, including consumers and governments. As a result, the research has three objectives:

  1. Examine the drivers of and impediments to CSR in Singapore;
  2. Explore whether CSR is important for the future development of Singapore-based enterprises, and Singapore in general;
  3. Propose how CSR can be made more relevant in the Singaporean context.

Through exploring these questions, this research identifies four key drivers of CSR in Singapore, and shares how the CSR scene can be further developed.
