The Summer Associates Programme is designed to provide talented young people from all around the world with a chance to gain meaningful work experience in the area of social innovation, through an 8 to 10 week internship. Students will not only have an opportunity to contribute to our research and programmes, but also hone their media-savvy skills, by writing articles and producing content for our flagship publication — Social Space Magazine.

 

As an LCSI Summer Associate, you will get to:

- Be mentored by a diversified team of experienced professionals
- Attend customised training sessions and masterclasses to equip you with practical workplace skills
- Go on fieldtrips to visit social enterprises / organisations
- Complete a final project and present your work to the team

 

General Requirements:

- Work well in a team
- Motivated and keen to learn
- Be creative and innovative
- Have strong communication skills
- Be able to work on multiple assignments under stipulated deadlines

 

This is an unpaid internship. Students must ensure they are sponsored by or receive credit from their respective institution for this internship.

 

Internship Period:

The internship will be 8 to 10 weeks between May 2019 to August 2019.

Positions Available:

1. Editorial Associate

You will work closely with the Deputy Editor of Social Space Magazine to write articles, assist in copyediting, proofreading and other production support tasks. You may also need to conduct topical research and interviews with social enterprises, organisations or individuals.

Requirements:
- Passion for writing
- Interest in social issues
- Exposure to journalism-style writing / content

2. Multimedia Associate

You will support the content production of Social Space Magazine's video series - Social Conversations, including sourcing for potential topics and interviewees, and assisting in scripting, hosting or filming.

Requirements:
- Passion for video content
- Interest in social issues

3. Social Media Associate

You will assist in managing the Shirin Fozdar Programme's online presence including its website and social media accounts on Facebook and LinkedIn. You will assist in creating campaigns, producing content or short videos, updating the programme's website and also provide support during events / conferences.

Requirements:
- Keen interest in women's empowerment and inclusion in the Southeast Asia region
- Social media savvy and comfortable working on digital platforms

4. Research Associate

You will assist in managing the Shirin Fozdar Programme’s online collection of articles (WOW Library). You will identify new articles to add to the collection, remove outdated materials, check the quality of existing entries, and assist in developing a new method of organisation for the library in order to improve the user experience.

Requirements:
- Keen interest in women's empowerment and inclusion in the Southeast Asia region
- Ability to identify high quality academic journal articles relevant to the themes of the library
- Experience with research and writing is a plus
