A Handbook On Inequality, Poverty And Unmet Social Needs In Singapore
2015 | Landscape Studies Download the Report
This handbook reviews and compiles the existing research and knowledge on poverty and socio-economic inequality in Singapore, with a particular focus on long-term trends and recent debates about social policy. It reveals that efforts to address poverty, inequality and unmet social needs in Singapore would be greatly enhanced by:
- The development of locally relevant and nuanced monetary and non-monetary measures of poverty that are made publicly available;
- More sharing of disaggregated data from government studies and surveys.
These steps would enable academics, social service organisations and the public to become more aware of the issues related to poverty and inequality in Singapore, and be better placed to weigh in on debates and solutions.
