Giving & Receiving Encore: New Models of Philanthropic Giving
Seminars and Conferences
Since January 2021, the Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI) has been holding a series of discussions as part of the Giving and Receiving programme, aimed at extending conversations around the findings of a report by the same name released at the end of 2020. From January to June, various topics related to philanthropy were discussed through panels as well as interviews, including exploring Eastern and Western philosophies of giving, giving and investing in women and girls initiatives, interfaith giving, as well as trust-based philanthropy.
Due to the encouraging interest in this programme among the philanthropic and social impact community in Singapore and beyond, LCSI is working together with Tri-Sector Associates (TSA) to host an encore session for the Giving and Receiving programme, focusing on innovative financing methods for social impact organisations and the programmes they run. As an encore, this session will also bring back one of the speakers from the very first panel, who will also speak about the potential of such models from a philanthropic perspective, and how new models can impact the way we give in Singapore and Asia.
The objectives for this session include to:
- Discuss financing trends across the times - how has financing for social impact organisations changed over time as corporate responsibility and social responsibility evolved
- Unpack various methods of innovative financing and discuss the application, and pros and cons, of some of the methods
- Launch a case study on innovative financing to rigorously measure and achieve social impact outcomes - specifically the Social Impact Guarantee (SIG), a unique model pioneered in Singapore. The SIG is a collaboration which both TSA and the Lorinet Foundation are part of. LCSI and TSA are co-developing a case study on the SIG that will be presented and discussed during this session.
